Comments
"609 boogie" and "Six o'nine boogie" are from the same master. "609 boogie" is speeded up and has audience and applause dubbed at the end. "Six o'nine boogie" has no audience at the end and runs at more normal speed. "1951" is shouted in the song, perhaps this indicates that the recording was made in 1951 or that the screaming overdub was added in late 1951 before the release of Chance 1122. Six o'nine boogie appears as "Take 1" and "Take 2" on the CD "Danceland Years" Pointblank Classic 8 40116 2. These two tracks, track 6 and 7, are identical.

By 1948, Hooker came to the attention of Elmer Barbee, a local record shop owner.Barbee arranged to have several demos recorded. He or Hooker later presented the recordings to Bernard "Bernie" Besman, who ran the Detroit area's only professional record company.
